I am back in Tokyo after spending the summer in Issaquah, WA and taking the summer off from writing. Current plans are to get back into writing on a daily basis - we will see how it goes. I live in next to Hikarigaoka park and a few days ago found a group of older people in the middle of the park field shooting paper airplanes into the air.
They encouraged us to try also. We found out that they come out when it is nice and do it for a few hours. Good exercise to go pick up the planes (5000 steps a day) and good companionship. Plus there is actually a pretty big online community about how to make your planes stay up for a longer time. They use both the simple balsa wood gliders from my childhood, but also used homemade planes made from stiff paper like this.Thursday, October 30, 2025
