I saw on google maps that there was a dairy farm an hour walk from our apartment in Hikarigaoka. This interested me as it is in the middle of the city so I decided to check it out. Turns out it is not much of a dairy farm - just about 15 cows in a small barn with no access to pasture. They have a mix of Jersey (brown) and Holstein (black and white) cows.
It is primary purpose is to show children the source of their milk. You can purchase milk and ice cream at a small stand across the street. I suppose for its purpose it is ok, but it would be nice if the cows had access to pasture and the ability to move around more.
