On weekends, the park fills with families and entertainment. I love walking around to see what is going on and enjoy the grounds of the park

Old time flea market - just local sellers, no professionals
Some weekends they have large events such as this one many professional sellers and special food trucks (er busses) that attract a lot of people. May folks ride bicycles that you see parked in rows on the grass. |

There is a track and field area that high students use for running and families use for kite flying with their kids. Many people old and young run or walk on a path that encircles the park (about 3km long).
The park is a designated area to gather in after a disaster so they have installed a zillion restrooms and special faucets that will supply water in case of a disaster. It is heavily used, but perfectly clean. I really like the way the Japanese take better care of the common spaces because those are shared with others than their own spaces. For me this is a very peaceful and relaxing place.
