Our first temple was a double header. Temple 68, Jinnein and Temple 69, Kannonji are in the same compound which had a beautiful, very old tree in the middle.
We started our walk today following a garbage truck with a very happy driver. In Japan they put the garbage bags under netting along curbs to be picked up once or twice a week. The trucks are also much smaller than the ones in the US.
Next we walked to Temple 70, Motoyamaji. Along the way we saw many drainage ponds with turtles and group playing a game of putters which is kind of like golf with over size putter clubs.
We then had a pleasant walk to our hotel which was close to the last temple of the day through small streets.
We had Udon for lunch as that is a specialty of this area.
Along the way we saw a car with a 2 lobe sticker which means a new driver and a car with a 4 lobe sticker which means a senior driver.
Temple 71, Iyadaniji is built in a solid rock hillside. It requires over 500 steps to access the compound and the halls within it.
The Kobo Daishi hall was actually inside a building instead of being a separate building.
We walked 20.5km today. You can see a map of my tracks here (you may have to refresh the page after a minute to get it to show). If you have Google Earth, it is faster to download a Google Earth file of my adventure from here.
What a nice sunny day!
