Ojichan sent us on our way with a smile and lunch. They also put dehydrating bags in our shoes last night to dry them out. These hosts really took care of us.
Along the way we saw this small logging operation with a great view.
Temple 66, Unpenji, is very beautiful at the top of the mountain.
It sits next to a ropeway which has an incredible view of the inland sea islands and Kanonji city.
There is a cool park on top with a swing that makes it seem like you're swinging over the city below.
Outside of the temple are 500 statues. They say if you look hard enough, you will find one that looks like you.
The trail down to the city was steep in places, but we made it to this nice henro hut.
Temple 67, Daikōji, had this tree that Kobo Daishi planted 1250 years ago.
At the temple we ate the lunch provided by our hosts this morning and talked a bit with this man and his daughter. He enjoyed the pilgrimage so much the first time that he is bringing his daughter this time.
On the walk to our hotel, we were given 4 citrus as osettai by a person in the silver car behind Sawako. We stopped by a sweet shop and she gave us two additional sweets as osettai.
If you zoom in on this picture.and look at the mountain directly above the pole to the right of the steps in the foreground, you will see the a red roof building on the mountain. That is the ropeway terminal next to Unpenji where we were a few hours ago.
