Day 8: Temple 23

Today we walked to the seaside where we visited temple 23, Yakuōji. The walk went through small hills and valleys along tiny country roads through farmland.

In several locations, unused schools were used as rest places as they had restrooms.
When we reached the ocean, we had lunch in a henro hut. The trail and road after that was lined with posts that had poems on them.

At Hiwasa where the temple is, we tried to visit the Sea Turtle museum, but it was closed. We did get to test out it's phone booth before we went to the temple.

This is the view of Hiwasa from The temple.

We walked 24.9km today. You can see a map of my tracks here (you may have to refresh the page after a minute to get it to show).  If you have Google Earth, it is faster to download a Google Earth file of my adventure from here.
