Walked over a pretty pass with Sawako from Awa to Tosa kure when I stayed at the train station while she continued walking. My goal is to walk a bit more each day untill I can walk a full day (20 - 25km). We started in the town by the ocean and followed the red henro signs.
I am amazed by the old structures we see abandoned along the trail. What was it like when they were built?
The place we stayed at last night was run an 80+ year old couple. They didn't provide food because she had a stroke and used a walker, but they love meeting ohenro-sans so they continue to run their Minshuku. They have some local citrus that taste like a sweet lemon. There are many local citrus varieties that are never found in stores.
The train ride to Kobukawa where Temple 37, Iwamotoji is through a lot of tunnels to get through the mountains. The temple itself is small and quiet on the edge of town.
We stayed at the temple and they had a very good dinner.
