Day 5: Temples 13 -17

We had a bit over a 5h walk to Dainichiji, temple 13. We met several of our cadre along the way. Luigi from Italy, a couple of middle age Japanese guys, a Japanese couple, and 3 older Japanese guys. Along the road a gal working on a greenhouse stopped us and gave us juice and tea to drink. In Kamiyama town a nice lady waiting for a bus gave us some mikans as we walked by.

The next two temples, Jurakuji and Kokubunji are very close to each other. At Kokubunji, a nice lady came up to me and showed me her phone where she translated 'be careful'. Sawako and her started talking and soon we exchanged pictures.

At the next temple, Kannonji, we met her again and she gave Sawako a good luck charm.

The final temple, number 17 was Idoji. Our lodging was right outside the temple. In fact, the dining room window looked into the temple grounds. The host served a large and wonderful dinner.

We walked 32.1km today. You can see a map of my tracks here (you may have to refresh the page after a minute to get it to show).  If you have Google Earth, it is faster to download a Google Earth file of my adventure from here.
