New Zealand - Day 14

Today we hiked to Rocky Peak outside of Wanaka. This is the peak we hiked.

The trail led through a forest before coming to the first viewpoint of a small lake and valley.

We then hiked the rest of the way to the top (2 miles and 1400ft) where we had great views of Lake Wanaka and the surrounding area.

Along the trail we saw stoat and possum traps.

Back at the lake, we saw the famous Wanaka tree, some people went swimming, and we had meat pies for lunch.

Then a 3.5 hour drive over Crown pass, through Queenstown to Te Anau, the entryway to Fjordlands National Park and UNESCO site

Queenstown is on the water in the distance.

In Te Anau we saw the not famous Te Anau palm tree.
