Close to our Tokyo apartment is Hikarigaoka park which covers 149 acres. A small section of the park is reserved as a bird preserve so we get a lot of birds around the park:
Heron
Kingfisher
Ducks sunbathing
Duck bathing (kind of an oxymoron)
Hawk bathing in a small pond
Red Flanked Bluetail
In Japan the Bluetail brings happiness so they are a good omen. Even though it is winter there are flowers and interesting bamboo if you know where to look:
Daffodils
Tortoise Shell Bamboo
I walk the park each day and am happily documenting the changes. Many trees are starting to bud out in anticipation of spring.
