Today was rainy again. Shortly after we started, we went through a mile long tunnel as we were concerned about the trail around the tunnel. As you can see, I am using an umbrella now instead of the poncho.
After the tunnel we stopped at a Jakoten factory to use their restrooms. Many companies have signs saying ohenro-sans can use their restrooms. Jakoten is a local snack food that is made from ground up whole small fish. They gave us some fresh Jakoten and had me sign their protective gear.
We made it to Uwajima Castle where a local told Sawako all about it. The castle has walls dating back to the 1500's that need to be cleaned every 2 months.
Inside the castle are steep stairs and some beautiful ink drawings.
We had a local delicacy for lunch. Uwajima Taimeshi which is raw Sea Bream mixed with soup and raw egg (rear bowl), then spooned over rice (front bowl).
I walked 18 km today. You can see a map of my tracks here (you may have to refresh the page after a minute to get it to show). If you have Google Earth, it is faster to download a Google Earth file of my adventure from here.
