After a good American breakfast we started walking. We stopped at a post office to send about 3lbs of stuff that we are not using to Sawako's mother. The pack feels so much better as 2 lbs came from my pack.
Sawako is punching a children book character. The author is from Shikoku so you see his characters all over the island.
After the post office the roads were a bit confusing and the locals stopped us twice to make sure we were going in the right direction.
We hiked over Izuta pass which was 300m of gain and very steep. You can see Sawako using the ropes to pull her up the hill.
Along the way we saw crabs, a logging operation, and flowering shrubs that were coloring the hillsides.
We dropped down into a valley with lots of rice fields, herons, and a self serve farm stand.
I walked 26.5km and 300m of elevation. You can see a map of my tracks here (you may have to refresh the page after a minute to get it to show). If you have Google Earth, it is faster to download a Google Earth file of my adventure from here.
