Lately I have been volunteering for Habitat for Humanity helping to build homes.
I really like it as home building has really changed since I last did it 35 years ago. Back then we did not have all the power tools like nail guns, etc. that they use today. The power tools make things go much, much faster. Other than power tools, framing is still done the same way, laying out walls on the floor and then lifting them and nailing them down.Siding was another big difference. Power tools sped things up, but they also had special tools to align the siding (the brackets on either side of the vent and HVAC connections below. This made it so, so much easier than 35 years ago.
Some of the volunteers were people who were purchasing the homes. Pretty cool when you get to help build the home you buy!
