Today we visited 5 temples in the Imabari area. The first was Temple 54, Enmeiji which was nestled in among the trees. On the way to it a person stopped and gave us a snack - Osettai in action.
Next we walked up and over a small hill where we found this very long graveyard leading into the city.
Temple 55, Nankōbō has armored guards at its gates.
Temple 56, Taisanji is built up on a wall. One of the driving Ohenro-sans brought their dog. The photos are the bell, the main hall, and Kobo Daishi hall. All the temples we visit have these buildings.
On the way to Temple 57, Eifukuji we saw this wonderful old Japanese house. This temple is also nestled in the trees.
If you zoom in on this photo you can see the last temple of the day on the 250m high hill.
Temple 58, Senyūji, had a few nice henro huts on the way up the hill including one with a water pump.
At the temple, there was a nice view and a cute lizard that thought my leg was a tree.
We walked 22.9km today. You can see a map of my tracks here (you may have to refresh the page after a minute to get it to show). If you have Google Earth, it is faster to download a Google Earth file of my adventure from here.
Hello Ski and Sawako san
ReplyDeleteThis is Shigeru Wakabayashi, we spent 3 accommodations together, It was between just before No.44 Taiho-ji and near No.49 Jyoruri-ji. I ended my section Ohenro of the year at No.56 Taisan-ji. Returned home yesterday morning. I'm glad to see you guys are moving forward without any trouble and having wonderful experiences along the way. I'm already missing doing Ohenro, now I'm looking at map and making plans for next year Ohenro. People might taught you already, it's called "oshikoku-byo", it's like Ohenro addicted, when doing it, you never think you will do it again, but after coming back, you wanna go back again. Yes, I am Ohenro addicted.
One thing I regret from this time Ohenro was I wish I had more time to talk you guys.
Well, this is Ohenro, meeting nice people, saying good bye, hoping to see you again.
I'll keep truck of you guys!
See you sometime!
Thanks for the comment. We enjoyed our time with you.
